Furnishing and decorating isn’t cheap. Things add up quickly, and its hard to find quality furniture and decor for a reasonable price. Thrifting is the best way to save money and furnish/decorate your home, but sometimes its hard to know what your’e looking for, and what is junk or gold. That is why I will hopefully make thrifting for your home a lot easier by showing you some items that are probably sitting in your local goodwill right now, waiting for you to buy. Knowing what to thrift and having a vision for items will make your thrift trips and flips a lot more successful.
Look for chairs… They don’t have to match!
I know it may seem like an interior design crime to buy chairs that aren’t the same for one table, but mix matching chairs can make for a great, unique feature in your home. Even Kendall Jenner did it in her new house (with much more expensive chairs). If you’ve never thought of looking for chairs at the thrift store, they usually have a plethora of them, and if you have but just can never find a match for the chair you like… now you don’t have to! Of course, come up with some textures or colors that go together and build up your chair collection based on your theme.

Books, Books, Books
Thrift stores are full to the brim with books. Books can make for a great decor piece, plus they can be useful. If you already have lots of books don’t be scared of putting them on display, whether thats stacking them on the floor, a table, or a bookshelf. If you have a specific color scheme your’e working towards, and want to buy some coffee table books or decorative pieces, the thrift store has a plethora of books in all colors and sizes. Just figure out your color palate, and look for (preferably) hard back books that match. You can stack them on your coffee table to add a nice and cheap piece of decor.

Find unique pictures and frames
Prints and frames can get pretty pricey, but thrift stores of lots and lots of pictures for dirt cheap. Making a mirage of photos in your staircase or on your wall add for some character to your house, and can turn a blank wall into something creative. You can look for modern pieces or more ancient looking pieces, or even mix the two. If you cant find any pictures you like, you can always just take the frames and print out your own pictures at home.

Mirror mirror on the wall…
… or the floor. Thrifting can be a really money saving way to shop for you to shop for your mirrors, plus you can use them to open up your space. Putting mirrors in your living room or bedroom can make an illusion that the space is actually bigger than it is. At the thrift store, you can look for little mirrors to put on your photo wall, or big ones to lean up against a wall or hang. You can even throw some LED lights behind the mirror to make it seem more expensive and give it more character.
